Hello Church, The Board of The Downtown Church will have a town hall meeting immediately after service this Sunday to discuss exciting options regarding the old parsonage (also known as the Ragan House). As visitors approach The Downtown Church heading west on Walnut Street, the parsonage is the first church building they see. The time has arrived to either refurbish or raze the old parsonage. In either case, we want to enhance this property as a wonderful place where the church intersects with the community. Our staff has received indicative estimates for both options. A refurbishment plan could cost around $200,000 and the board approved staff to acquire detailed contractor bids for consideration. The refurbishment plan includes tiered options, so the total cost could be reduced depending on which refurbishment options are selected. Additionally, sweat equity and potential grants could lower the outlay of church funds. Indicative estimates to raze the parsonage is between $50,000 to $100,000; the upper cost leveling the ground as usable outdoor space rather than a slope toward the main church building. Through your generous support and the stewardship of church staff, funds are already available to support this future decision. Before making a final decision, the Board of The Downtown Church wants to share how the indicative costs were acquired and discuss ideas on how the property could be used. The meeting will start as soon as possible after service on August 21st in the sanctuary.
We look forward to meeting with you. Yours in Christ, Brent Bossi, Board Chairperson Hailey Magnus, Board Member & Lay Leader Ethan Sykes, Board Member & Secretary Josh Woodiel, Board Member & Treasurer Linda Chorice, Board Member Callie Gibson, Board Member Linda Grayless, Board Member Steve Miller, Board Member Ken Owens, Board Member Wade Shelton, Board Member Laura Hover Skiles, Board Member
