We are busy tying up all the loose ends and making plans for a magical Christmas Eve around here. The place has been decorated for weeks, but it is starting to feel real now. We are only a few days away from this special celebration! We have retooled a few things in our usual service and I don't want anyone to be caught off guard, so hopefully this helps.
There will be organ music before service and cookies, coffee, and hot chocolate ready at 6:30pm. When families arrive, kids can get their costumes on for the pageant, but then stay with their families. We will dismiss the kids to the correct starting points at the beginning of the first hymn. That way kids will know exactly where their family is sitting after the pageant.
After the pageant, service will continue with music, a message, Holy Communion, and we will end the service by singing Silent Night to candlelight. We promise it's the perfect end to such a beautiful evening (and we even have a few battery powered candles for our littlest members).
The most important thing to remember about Christmas Eve is that the hope, love, joy, and peace that made Advent and Christmas so amazing are meant to be spread out the whole year too. So continue being generous after the candles go out and the presents are unwrapped. This world needs people powered by the spirit of the Christmas Season all year long.
See you Sunday, Brian
