This Sunday, we will gather together after worship and gussy up this ol' gal for the Christmas Season! First, we will feast together on chili (thanks, Janet!) and other snacks you lovely folks are bringing. Then we will divide and conquer.
People will be raking leaves, trimming the hedges, and tending to the grounds outside. And inside, trees, lights, and wreaths will be coming out of boxes and storage to adorn our walls and halls.
The, after a few hours, we will stand back and smile. The leaves will be gone, the wreaths hung, the lights glowing, and the trees trimmed. We will be ready and excitedly awaiting the season of Advent. The time of year we celebrate that things changed forever. Emmanuel. God with us.
And I'm thankful I have a church family that is more wonderful than words could describe. I hope you feel the same. The Downtown Church is a special place where we sing our beliefs each week: love the Lord, your God, with all heart, and soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.
See you Sunday, Brian
