This past weekend, we observed All Saints Sunday. It's a time where we remember the deaths of people in our congregation, and the loved ones in our lives who have passed. I spent time in the sermon addressing the need for all of us to remember that this is a time to remember and pay tribute to these people together.
Grief is not something that is meant to be experienced in isolation. And neither is our joy. In Romans, Paul says to, "rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep."
I'm not sure if you are weeping today or rejoicing, but I am hopeful that we can move forward together. My prayer is for unity and that the call on our lives to be image bearers of Christ is made real in the days and weeks ahead. That the duality of a two-party system in America gives way to the harmony of humankind working together for the good of all people. And let the hard work of loving people, all people, regardless of labels, begin with each of us.
See you Sunday, Brian
